Our values

Linking in to our vision, our school’s values lie around the theme of ‘GRIT’– aiming to be exceptional through passion and perseverance to long term goals. This is the aim of the school team working together for our children and is our aim for the children- to be exceptional as people and in their lives.

Rights Respecting- Gold

We are accredited at Gold Rights Respecting.

This has been a whole school achievement– our full GPVPA Team, our Governors, our parents, and, most importantly, our children, who are highly engaged in this and proud to be part of a school that focuses on their Rights.

Achieving Gold: Rights Respecting means there is evidence that: 

• Our school has explicitly adopted a child rights approach based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and has embedded it in school practice, ethos and culture. 

• Children, young people and adults have an awareness and understanding of child rights, with rights respecting attitudes and language embedded across the school. 

• RRSA has had a positive impact on children’s learning and wellbeing. 

• Inclusion and diversity are actively promoted and celebrated. 

• Children see themselves as rights respecting global citizens and are advocates for social justice, fairness and children’s rights at home and abroad. 

• Leaders use the CRC as a driver for school improvement. 

Children play an increasingly leading role in driving progress. At Gold: Rights Respecting, the school has aimed to and evidenced to intensifying and broadening 

1. Teaching and Learning about rights: for the whole school community through training, curriculum, assemblies, topics, focus days/weeks, displays. 
2. Teaching and Learning through rights: by modelling rights respecting language and attitudes and making strategic decisions that involve students. 
3. Being ambassadors for the rights of others: developing as rights respecting citizens. 

Our journey: In the Spring of 2024 we obtained Bronze Level and in the Summer of 2025 we achieved Silver: Rights Aware.
